Veterans Class (1-2 Persons)
This "take it to the water" four (4) hour class is for vets (only) seeking a new venue to reduce stress and PTSD symptoms. Led by Doug Stubbe, he is a former Director of Veteran Services in Pierce and Burnett Counties (Wisconsin). He has also served in the US Army and US Army Reserve 1977 – 2015 having been deployed in Bosnia and Iraq.
How does flyfishing help manage PTSD/anixety? Instead of becoming easily trapped in their own mind with a jumble of flooding memories, Veterans have the ability to take it all to the water. With the surrounding nature offering solitude, tranquility and peace, veterans reduce their stress. And, because fly-fishing requires the utmost concentration, fly-fishing can assist Veterans in learning how to transfer and apply their service experiences by re-focusing their attention/mind on a more positive activity in managing their life challenges and moving forward. Fishing is the means. The river is the experience.
This all-inclusive beginner class includes all the required gear, informal class-room overview and in-river fishing experience at a modern facility and convenient river access. Price is $300 per person.
